Home Pregnancy Test DYE RUNS

I’m sure by now if you’ve started your TTC (Trying To Conceive) journey, you’ve started charting your BBT (Basal Body Temperature), CM (Cervical Mucus), and possibly even your CP (Cervical Position). Some even opt to Take OPK’s (Ovulation Predictor Kits) in conjunction, to verify whether or not you’re in your Fertile Window! Once Ovulation has taken place, you can usually get a reliable result on a HPT (Home Pregnancy Test) when you’ve missed a period. But what does a true positive result look like? Also, sometimes it can be a bit harder to tell if the dye doesn’t completely run across the test like it’s supposed to. I decided to put together a Gallery of actual Tests that had, “Dye Runs,” that displays both Pink Dye and Blue Dye Tests, manufactured by different brands!

How to get Urine Stains off of a HPT

Whenever you’re testing for Pregnancy, (especially in Early Pregnancy) it’s always best to use FMU (First Morning Urine) in order to have the highest amount of HCG (Human Chorionic Gonadotropin) available for detection. If that’s not possible you can always hold your Urine for a minimum of 2-4 hours while refraining from drinking any beverages!

But unfortunately with that being said, highly Concentrated Urine typically is very dark in color, in comparison to diluted Urine which is very transparent and light. Sometimes when the test is completely dry, (more often than not) after it’s been sitting out for a while – it can leave a nasty looking Urine film where it once ran across the test.

If you’re anything like most of who are actively TTC (Trying To Conceive) there may come a time when you would like to show a family member or even a friend online to seek their opinion in distinguishing a second Line – (Evaporation Line?) or perhaps you would just simply like to share the good news! Either way, a strong, yellow film can make the test very undesirable and even a bit embarrassing to show. So what can you do?

I conducted an Experiment, and this is what the Tests initially looked like the next day.

I was supposed to make an Update on the outcome and was a bit grossed out with the way they looked. Not to mention Dried Urine can also cause an Evaporation Line to appear.

I had read somewhere that you can CLEAN a TEST simply by redepositing water on it, so I thought I would test the theory out. I used a Cassette Test and a Test Strip for this specific Experiment. I treated both of the HCG Tests as if they had never been used before and deposited 5 drops of water where the Urine would go, then proceeded to re-dip the Test Strip. I started to see the water (slowly but surely) literally wash away the Dried, excess Urine!

I was actually very surprised that I was watching this work Because the stains were REALLY DARK.

The trick is, you have to make sure that  the test is COMPLETELY DRY first before attempting this, otherwise there’s no way for the water to absorb and you will over saturate the test including the container (which can be a huge pain!)

In the end, this is how the Tests looked! And I gotta say, I was really impressed!

You may want to do those a couple times before you deem this as Picture-Worthy!

Clearblue Easy HPT (Partial Product Review)

We have all heard horror stories about the (Blue Dye Tests) in which they are well known for False Positives, (Dye Runs), and (more importantly) (Evaporation Lines!) So just how Good or Bad are these?

I was just about to conduct one of my famous and fun (HPT Experiments) when I opened a, never before used Clearblue Easy Blue Dye (+ or -) TEST. I immediately noticed upon taking it out of the package that low and behold – THERE WAS ALREADY A BLUE HORIZONTAL LINE ON IT!

It just seemed so odd to me. I have of course had my own experiences in the past with Evaporation Lines and False Positives on HPT (Home Pregnancy Tests) – even hard to interpret results on OPK’s (Ovulation Predictor Kits!) I took a quick video showcasing the Unused TEST and Blue Line prior to dipping it in any Urine. Unfortunately the video did not appear that visible to the naked eye on camera! Luckily I also snapped a picture.

There you can clearly see a Line, running across the Unused TEST. I do not believe I have ever seen anything like that before! What’s your take on it? I used one about a month ago and do not recall seeing one on that particular TEST. Here’s the more in depth video I took, although it’s much clearer in the illustration above.

(Digital) Home Pregnancy Tests

Most of us are familiar with the Pink and Blue Dye Tests, but sometimes it’s great to confirm those with a (Yes or No!) – I decided to put together a Gallery of actual, “Digital,” results that you can look at that display both Positive and Negative Tests, manufactured by different brands!

Negative Home Pregnancy Tests

Once Ovulation has taken place, you can usually get a reliable result on a HPT (Home Pregnancy Test) when you’ve missed a period. But what does a true positive result look like? Or – even a Negative? (We all get Line Eye from time to time) And I’ve been guilty of it myself! (Evaporation Lines) Home Pregnancy Tests

I’m sure by now if you’ve started your TTC (Trying To Conceive) journey, you’ve started charting your BBT (Basal Body Temperature), CM (Cervical Mucus), and possibly even your CP (Cervical Position). Some even opt to Take OPK’s (Ovulation Predictor Kits) in conjunction, to verify whether or not you’re in your Fertile Window! Once Ovulation has taken place, you can usually get a reliable result on a HPT (Home Pregnancy Test) when you’ve missed a period. But what does a true positive result look like? It’s highly recommended to read that result within the strict 10 minute window. If a line appears past that time frame, (regardless of color) it’s usually considered an evaporation line, (a line that appears once the urine has dried where a positive line would have appeared had HCG been detected!) which should be discarded. What does an evaporation line look like? I decided to put together a Gallery of actual, “Evaporation Line,” tests, that display both Pink Dye and Blue Dyes, manufactured by different brands!

Can you get a FALSE POSITIVE if an Unused Test comes into contact with a TRUE POSITIVE?

Over the past few days I’ve been conducting some new Experiments just to what (if Anything) can yield any false positive results on a HPT? Soooooooo – I decided to Take a (True Positive) HPT and touch it on a (Never been used) HPT just to see if it could possibly yield a (False Positive Result) after dipping it in normal Urine that contained no traces of HCG – just simply Because it came into contact with another, True Positive Test?!

Reusing a Negative HPT with Urine that contains HCG!

My lovely friend who is Pregnant, donated a Urine sample! Being as how I had a few Negative HPT’s laying around, I decided to see what would happen (if Anything at all) if we re-dipped the same Test, in Urine that contained the hormone HCG!
